Journey with us through the wilderness

PRAY WITH US
This week we’re praying for:
- God to break through into our hearts – to move us from being a bystander to an active participant in His work
- Our One to seek to know God (But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul – Deut 4:29)
WHAT IS LENT?
Depending on your background, you may have different ideas of what Lent looks like. Lent is traditionally a 40-day period of observance through fasting, meant to mirror the 40 days that Jesus fasted in the wilderness, culminating in Holy Week and ending on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter.
THE HEART
Lent, like other fasting, is not meant to just empty us of the things of the world, but turn us towards the things of God, to be filled and better satisfied by them. We let go of our lesser loves and trade them for the greater love we find in Christ.
During this year’s Lenten season, along with fasting and prayer, HMCC Austin is pressing into the story of Nehemiah, the testimony of God’s faithfulness in rebuilding a nation in disarray.
JOIN US
Whether it’s your first time observing Lent or your fiftieth, we encourage you to join us as we continue in the way God leads, turning away from sin and distraction, facing the cross, and looking towards the victory we have in the death and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
